I have been keeping a secret and now I get to let you in on it!  Fun Stampers Journey put out a call for a creative team when I attended the annual convention to release the new catalog. I was so excited about this because that is exactly what I wanted to do!

So excited to announce I made the team for the 2018-2019 Catalog year! There were eight of us chosen and you will meet them all very soon.

Being on a design team was not new to me, however, I wanted this one real bad, boy was I nervous. Once the call went out I began playing with some of my new goodies from the convention. Let me show you what I created.

Round #1 Submission

Dimensional cards are among one of my favorites to make. Little works of art for someone to enjoy. I used the Liquid Colors from Fun Stampers Journey along with the Color Burst Colored Pencils to color in the images from  The Bright Side Stamp Set.

I created my first layer out of a piece of black shelled paper 4 x 5 1/4  from the RSVP Prints paper packet. The next layer cut 3 3/4 x 5  of Haystack Cardstock. Then take one of the larger Journey Circle dies and the coordinating piercing die to cut out a circle from the top center of haystack Cardstock. Mount this to shell pattern paper using Medium Journey Squares.

Cut a banner for the sentiment by hand, using Clear Pigment Ink stamp sentiment and heat emboss with Black Emboss Powder.  Apply to top of haystack layer. Add Whip Cream Thread triple looped off center secure with Small Journey Square. Adhere the Lighthouse and Rocks with Journey squares. Finish off the card design with journey Glaze and Fashion Gold Dots.

Do you like to have a product in your craft supplies that you can use in several ways? I love to have versatile products to work with. I wanted to create a tropical background for my project with the leaf layers stencil. I had one problem, I didn’t have any green color splash sprays. So, I took myself back a few years in my paper crafting and thought I can make my own spray using some FSJ products that I had on hand. Get comfortable and let me show you what I did!

Today, I am sharing a project tutorial teaching you how I created my own water based spray using Fun Stampers Journey products. This is different from our splashes which are pigment based.

How To:

Supplies Needed For Background Spray

• Empty spray bottle
•  Limeade Splash Liquid Color
•  Sparkle Silk
• 5 ml water

Step 1

Using an empty spray bottle I put about 4 to 5 drops of the Liquid Color in Limeade Splash and a hint of the Sparkle Silk into approximately 5 milliliters of Water. Swirl to mix. This mixture helped me to create a soft shimmer spray for my background.

Step 2.

Lay the Leaf Layers stencil over a piece of Whip Cream cardstock. (Place in a shoebox to minimize overspray). Lightly mist over the stencil until the desired effect is achieved. I lightly misted my background for a softer effect, however, if you are looking to achieve a darker result simply spray twice or ink with True Fusion Ink and a sponge Dauber Dowel.

Step 3.

I stamped the Toucan in Clear Pigment Ink and then heat embossed with black embossing powder for a raised glossed appearance. This also helps to contain the color when water-coloring. I used liquid colors (Lemon Drop, Limeade Splash, and Candy Apple) on an acrylic block diluted with water. Some portions I painted non-diluted for a bolder color. The Journey Blending Brush works perfectly for this type of application.

Step 4

Once you’ve finished stamping your two toucans, five leaves of choice and your sentiment then run them through your Journey Platinum machine with the coordinating dies. I also used the Mystical Fern Die and the Pinked Border Die from the Border Essentials Die Set to add more texture into the card.

Final Steps.

I assembled my first layer on to my cardstock base, and then applied the die cut oval. Next, apply the fern and two stamped leaves. I placed the pinked border to the top of the card to add a more polished effect. I heat embossed the sentiment and the toucans. To add dimension to the card I popped up the two toucans, the branch and the two leaves under the toucans. I adhered those pieces with medium Journey Foam Squares. For my finishing touches, I lightly splattered the card with Black Licorice Silk and added a few sequins.

This would make a great Anniversary, Wedding or even a Friendship card.

So excited to have returned from the annual Fun Stampers Journey Convention with a new logo and catalog!

I have been busy creating with the sets that I brought home from Phoenix. I have a set of four cards that I am preparing for a class too! I am hoping to offer it locally and possibly on You Tube Too!
